Pastor Chuck Carlson

Born in 1947 to a clergy family, Chuck began his ministry in college at No. Dakota St. Univ. and continued in campus ministry with the Navigators in Wisconsin, Missouri, and Iowa. Later, he earned a Master of Divinity from Trinity International University in Chicago, and has pastored in three other churches. He most recently served the congregation at New Hope Fellowship (formerly San Pedro) for 18 years. He was called to the Sonoita Hills Community Church in 2003.

Chuck is married to Elaine, a vice principal at Buena High School, and they have two children, Reid and Rachel. Chuck has served with various civic and religious groups, including president of a local ministerial, as chairman of the Jail Ministry board, as a member of the Crisis Pregnancy board, and as a board member of the local Rotary Club. He also serves as volunteer chaplain for the local fire department, and prays weekly with a group of local pastors called Sonoita Fellowship of Churches. In addition, he has served on the area EFCA District Board for number a of years.

About the Family
Elaine was raised on a farm near Waunakee, Wis. and earned her B.S. at Univ. of Wis, Madison. She has a Masters in Counselor Education from Iowa State Univ., and an administrator's degree from Univ. of Arizona. She taught Psychology and Human Behavior in the High School classroom before assuming her present position as a vice principal at the Buena High School. In addition, she is an adjunct professor for Western International Univ, teaching graduate classes at satellite campuses. She is also a terrific cookie and bread baker, and has a "chocolate ministry" at Christmas time.

The children are grown. Reid, a graduate of Trinity Western University, is married to Laura, and they live and work in Tucson. Rachel, a graduate from Westmont College, is married to Mark Colvin. They now live and work in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. Both children and their spouses are deeply involved in their respective churches, and making an impact for the Lord.

Hobbies
Besides preaching at the church, Chuck has taught in the English Dept.
(English 210, the Bible As Literature) at Cochise College, a local community college. He has enjoyed taking computer classes on the side and he relishes his day off to play golf. He and his wife love to travel for short trips to their condo in the White Mountains of N. Arizona.
